Boise Hoopla!
Lynn Knickrehm-Fisher is the founder of Boise Hoopla and she is a Licensed HoopGirl teacher. She first started "hula hooping" for fun in the Summer of 1998 with a small plastic hoop. Later at a concert, Lynn saw a woman "hoop dancing" with a big, flashy Hoop all over her body. Inspired to learn about this memorizing spectical, Lynn searched for a Hoop instructor and found one in Portland, Oregon. Frequently traveling 430 miles to take Hoop classes, Lynn was eventually certified as a licensed HoopGirl instructor. Now Lynn shares her knowledge with students, and she also performs with her Hoops at parties, concerts, and during her spare time. She has also done volunteer hoop classes at a local shelter for runaway/at risk teenage girls. She is dedicated to bringing positive expression through the Hoop.
Hooping is a form of meditation, of self-expression, and most importantly, a fantastic way to exercise while having fun! Modern hoops are quite different than the flimsy and light weight hoops that you may remember as a child. These beautifully decorated hoops are larger and heavier, and they spin slower, which makes them easy to use. The key is to find a hoop that fits you and your personality.
Happy hooping!
Some quotes from Lynn's students:
"Hi Lynn,
I just wanted to tell you what a great time I had at the beginners hoop class last night. I still feel energized today and can't wait til next week! It's the most fun I've ever had exercising. I know that hooping is something that I can stick with for a long time."
